Jamie Leigh Romano
Some years ago our colleagues and friends, the Romano’s, learned their daughter Jamie Leigh was afflicted with Leukemia. Our work “family” rallied around the family to provide moral and financial support.
The Romano’s tell it best: “Jamie Leigh Romano entered this world like most children. She had no complications, no signs of illness or disease. She was the youngest of three and completed our family. Everything was going great for 13 months. Then on September 28, 2000, we had the worst doctor’s visit you can ever imagine. We had taken Jamie in to see the doctor because she started to look a little jaundiced. After eight hours of blood tests they told us to go directly to Children’s Hospital, Jamie had leukemia. We knew nothing about Children’s Hospital at that time. We didn’t even know how to get there. For the next six months, though, this became our second home. We spent our days at the clinic and many nights on the Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant Wards. What helped us through was knowing we were not alone. Having the support from our work ‘family’ was our saving grace.”
This is what Professionals Miracles Foundation stands for: Helping families of sick children in their time of need. Through the support of Jamie (who we are thrilled to report is a talented young woman now and actively serves on the PMF board as a Junior Member), we learned that hundreds of children each year who are stricken with a life threatening illness or a debilitating condition that will be with them for a lifetime. Still other children are involved in tragic accidents and need help. We are proud to have helped these families and we want to enlist YOUR support to continue our mission. Please sign up to play in or sponsor our Annual Golf Tournament, our largest fundraiser of the year. Please also consider making donations directly to the Foundation, and support us later in the year through the annual Colorado Gives Day. Thank you so much for your support!
